Katherine Ryan was unveiled as the star performing as Pigeon during Saturday evening’s The Masked Singer.
But the Canadian comedian, 39, refused to tell her daughter Violet, 12, she was taking part in the show because she was convinced she’d be unable to keep it a secret and ‘would spill it to the whole school’.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Katherine shared a clip of Violet who was in total shock when Katherine lifted the head of the pigeon costume off during the pre-recorded episode of the show.

Katherine had attempted to convince her it was former The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins competing.
Outraged her mother had not told her she was appearing on The Masked Singer, Violet raised her hands in the air as she was stunned by what she saw on screen.
She got up off the sofa and paced across the room to the kitchen in back in total shock.

Violet said: ‘Obviously. I knew this the whole time I knew it wasn’t Gemma. Why would you lie?’
As Katherine could be heard giggling while filming the clip on her phone, Violet added: ‘You said you weren’t on it? I knew it.’
While her newborn baby Fenna Grace made noises off camera, Katherine said: ‘Aww Fenna can’t believe it.’

Katherine gave birth to her third child Fenna in December and was about a month away from giving birth while filming last year.
She was left in the bottom two after receiving the least amount of votes alongside co-star Jacket Potato when the episode aired this weekend.
And after the judges decided to save the latter, Pigeon was unmasked as the funnywoman before leaving the show.

Fawn, Rhino, Phoenix, Knitting, Jellyfish and Otter all made it through to the next round of the show when it returns next weekend.
Before Katherine was unmasked, panellist Jonathan Ross guessed it was actress Liza Tarbuck in the Pigeon costume while Rita Ora predicted model Jodie Kidd, Davina McCall said Loose Woman Nadia Sawalha and Mo Gilligan guessed actress Emily Atack.
Joking that some viewers thought it was former TOWIE star Gemma performing as Pigeon, Katherine said: ‘I can only do a sort of Essex accent because I watch so much reality TV.’

On preparing to give birth to her third child at the time, Katherine said: ‘I have a month left.
‘I feel like I have a baby’s foot in my lung at most times and it is actually harder than I thought.
‘But you can’t tell my daughter anything because she would spill it to the whole school so she’ll be finding out along with everyone else!’

Judges Davina, Rita, Jonathan, and Mo opted to save Jacket Potato from the bottom two and sent them through to the next round, but none of them had guessed Katherine’s identity correctly.
Katherine closed out the show by performing Fight For This Love by Cheryl, which she performed earlier in the episode.
Next week’s edition of the series will feature a ‘world first’ in the form of a double elimination.

After the show was filmed in October, Katherine welcomed a baby girl named Fenna Grace in December, with her husband Bobby Kootstra announcing the news on Instagram.
Alongside an adorable snap of their newborn daughter, Bobby also shared a picture of Katherine during her ‘lengthy’ labour as he praised her ‘strength’ – before she posted a snap of her placenta after labour.
‘Mom is incredible! Proving her strength repeatedly through the relatively lengthy delivery at home. We are so blessed:)’.

Katherine also shared an adorable son of their son Fred, 18 months, meeting his new sister captioned with the timestamp of 12.05.
She later took to her Story to share that there was a ‘glitch’ during the birth which led to things being delayed and ‘a bit touch and go’ but that she was now fine.
The TV star is also mother to daughter Violet, 12, from a previous relationship.

Katherine revealed she was pregnant with her third child back in July last year.
The TV personality admitted she learned she was expecting after trying for the first time while still breastfeeding her son Fred, who she welcomed just 19 months ago.
Katherine shared her pregnancy news on her podcast, but remained tight-lipped on how far along she was.

She said: ‘I’m pregnant, I’ve been pregnant for a while and here’s how I did that. I got pregnant while breastfeeding the first time I tried and to be honest with you I don’t think it’s going to work because I’m 39 – I would have been 38 when I got pregnant.
‘And I thought, “We’ve got to get the kids out of the way”. You never know how long you’re gonna have and I love my kids. I just thought, ”well let’s go for it”.’
Speaking on her show, she said: ‘You should never tell people your due date. If you never tell them, they can never start hassling you around that time.’

‘I got pregnant while breastfeeding the first time I tried and to be honest with you I don’t think it’s going to work because I’m 39 – I would have been 38 when I got pregnant.
‘And I thought ”we’ve got to get the kids out of the way”. You never know how long you’re gonna have and I love my kids. I just thought, ”well let’s go for it.”

Explaining that she was still breastfeeding Fred at the time, Katherine admitted she ‘knew she wasn’t ovulating’ because she ‘didn’t have notable dryness.’
‘So one day I’m walking around and I feel, you know, damp. And I felt a little more attractive than usual,’ she added.
She said: ‘I thought, #’well let’s wait and see, let’s track all the things.’
Katherine added that she ‘forgot about trying’ while touring after suffering two pregnancy losses, but began to suffer from a ‘sharp pain’ which lasted for two to three minutes, which she had while pregnant with her son Fred.
She continued: ‘I thought maybe I’m getting my period. And I didn’t expect to get a period this month as I could because these things have to even themselves out after your first period when you’re breastfeeding.’
‘Soon after, days later I had a positive pregnancy test.’
Katherine had a civil partnership with childhood sweetheart Bobby in December 2019, in a low-key ceremony in Denmark after the pair rekindled their romance.
