Kel Mitchell might be a household name for anyone who grew up on Good Burger, Kenan & Kel, or Game Shakers, but at home, he’s just one cool dad who says that his four of his children are his “biggest fans”.

While chatting with People Magazine at the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards, the 46-year-old actor and comedian shared what it’s like raising kids who are fully aware of just how famous he is.

“Oh yeah, they know instantly,” Mitchell said with a laugh when asked if his kids’ friends recognize him. “Or it’s Game Shakers, because I play Double G in that. And they’ll ask me to do a lot of that stuff too, as well.”

But if you’re expecting some classic kid embarrassment about their dad’s decades-long career, think again. Mitchell told the outlet that his kids are his “biggest fans.” 

“They love it,” Mitchell said. “They cracked up. They’re like my biggest fans.” He even joked adding that his son Wisdom has taken on a new role, publicist. “He’s like my PR.”

Mitchell is a proud father of four: Lyric, 26, and Allure, 23, from his previous marriage to Tyisha Hampton, and Wisdom, 7, and Honor, 4, with his wife Asia Lee. And it looks like his younger kids might just be the next generation of on-screen talent.

After their cameo appearances in Good Burger 2 last year, Mitchell shared that while it was all in good fun, he’s fully supportive if they choose to pursue acting more seriously.

“Well, you know what? It was for fun because they just enjoyed it and wowed the producers. You know what I mean?” Mitchell said. “So it was for fun, but if they want to continue to do it, I’ll support them, but they got to want to do it.” He added, “And then they have a dad that has been through it so he can actually help them out through it all. But they got to love it.”

At the end of the day, Kel Mitchell may be a TV icon to the world, but at home, he’s just dad and there’s nothing cooler than having your biggest fans call you that.
