Kelly Clarkson reached her decision swiftly when it came to her future with her talk show. The passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, in August after a battle with cancer made the choice to conclude The Kelly Clarkson Show after seven seasons much clearer.
Reflecting on the situation during a February 20 interview on Today, Kelly, who is the mother of River, 11, and Remington, 9, with Brandon, remarked, “I think everyone understands the timing. Our family dynamic has shifted significantly, and it’s been that way for a while. Life’s fragility has become more evident to me.”
Despite her departure from daytime TV, Kelly reassures her audience that she remains committed to other ventures, including her role as a judge on The Voice.
“People might assume I’m quitting,” she explained, “but I’m incredibly busy. I still have other responsibilities and projects. It’s just that my schedule is overwhelming, and I realized it’s the right moment to step back a bit.”
“I know everybody thinks, ‘Oh she’s like quit,’” she said. “I’m really busy. I still have other jobs, I’m still doing stuff. There’s just too much on the plate, so I was like you know what? It’s time to pull back.”
