Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have decided to shake things up this holiday season.
In a change of tradition, the couple has opted to exclude their children—Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22—from the family Christmas card. This decision was made to simplify the process.
During a joint interview with People on December 7, Mark revealed, “We’re tired of getting all the photos approved by our kids every year,” to which Kelly added humorously, “We’ve cut them out.”
It seems their children did not take this news well.
“They complained that they’re not in the Christmas card this year,” Kelly noted. “They felt very slighted, asking, ‘How could you?’ My response was, ‘I am tired of waiting around for you to approve a picture.’”
But the 55-year-old insisted this year’s holiday card is still a “great one”—and definitely spreads holiday cheer.
“We took a picture on the set with the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders,” she said, “and Mark is in the middle and we’re all in our special outfits and Mark just has a look on his face, he’s so excited and happy. He’s the happiest I’ve ever seen him be in a Christmas card.”
