Kim Kardashian is teaching her kids how to understand and support a loved one with a disability.

On a recent episode of The Kardashians, the SKIMS founder admitted that her children, North 11, Saint 9, Chicago 7, and Psalm, 5, aren’t ‘the most comfortable” around Amari Thompson, the younger brother of Tristan Thompson.

The teen, who recently turned 18, has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy that has left him wheelchair-bound and prone to seizures.

Kardashian shared, “I think it’s so important that they play with him and they really get to know him.” 

The episode showed the Kardashian-Jenner family coming together to celebrate Amari’s 18th birthday, during which he experienced a seizure—a regular part of his daily life

Instead of shying away from the situation, Kim used it as an opportunity to educate and comfort her children. “Are you girls a little bit scared?” she asked. “There’s no need to be. You know? But it’s OK if you are.”

The episode also featured Tristan Thompson spending time with Amari, along with his two children, True and Tatum, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Khloé Kardashian. In a confessional, Khloé reflected on how meaningful the birthday celebration was for the family.

“Amari turning 18 is a huge milestone for him. It’s a huge accomplishment, and every day we have with him is a blessing,” Kardashian said.

She continued, “When you meet someone that’s so wonderful and then something so terrible happens to them, you do want to help. You do want to fix it and be there as much as you can. I think my mom feels the exact same way. She has such a connection to Amari, and so to not be able to do much, it is really hard.”
