More than a decade later, Kim Kardashian is still trying to put a long-standing internet rumor to bed. No, she did not forget daughter, North West at a Paris hotel back in 2014.

If you’ve ever stumbled across that infamous clip of Kim walking out of Le Royal Monceau looking flawlessly put together in a pink two-piece set and grey coat, only to double back moments later and return with toddler North on her hip, you’re not alone. The internet immediately decided she must’ve “forgotten” her daughter. But according to Kim, that’s never been the case.

She was simply having a fashion moment. 

“I wanted to show off the look before holding her bc her outfit didn’t match mine!” Kim explained in a July 11 Instagram Story, as reported by E! News. And yes, she still stands by that response 10 years later.

Let’s rewind a bit. Back in October 2014, when the clip first made the rounds, Kim clapped back with humor. “Do u guys really think a 1year old would be inside the lobby by herself!” she tweeted. “Oh wait she was waiting to check out lol.”

So now the rumor has been clarified twice now. Once in real time, and once for those who just can’t let it go again recently.

These days, Kim and North are anything but fashion opposites. North, who just turned 12, has become her mom’s biggest (and boldest) style critic. “She’s a big critiquer, but it’s pretty good,” Kim said during a Vogue interview at the 2025 Met Gala. “Even if that’s not my style, I’m not going to critique that because just be you and if you like that then that’s what you should be into,” she added, quoting North’s refreshingly positive fashion philosophy.

It’s clear their relationship has grown and continues to evolve into something beautiful. Kim recently celebrated North’s birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post, saying, “It’s been the most special calling being your mom. I love you forever and got you forever my bubs.”

So while that Paris moment may have sparked a thousand memes, Kim’s not worried.
