Kim Kardashian testified in court about a terrifying night nearly a decade ago when an estimated $10 million worth of jewelry and cash were stolen from her during a robbery at gunpoint in a Paris hotel room.

On May 13, the reality TV star faced the men accused of robbing her in 2016. She said it was around 3 in the morning when the assailants barged into her room. She was wearing just a bathrobe and when that fell open she thought “that was the moment that he was going to rape me.” The SKIMS founder recounted being thrown onto the bed as one of the men zip-tied her hands and then pulled a gun on her.

“I absolutely did think I was going to die,” she told the court and explained that she pleaded with the robbers not to kill her, saying, “I have babies. I have to make it home. They can take everything. I just have to make it home.”

Kardashian remembered that she was carried into the bathroom. Her mouth was taped, and she was told she’d be OK if she stayed quiet. When the masked men left, she was able to free herself.

The thieves made off with a diamond ring from her ex-husband, Kanye West, and lifted other items from her jewelry box including a watch her late father, Robert Kardashian, gave her and a cross necklace which was later found on a Paris street.

The diamond experts at the jewelry retailer Steven Stone took a closer look at that necklace and shared the details about the lesser-known piece.

Maxwell Stone told Showbiz Cheat Sheet: “The only piece to survive the heist was a platinum diamond crucifix by the acclaimed jeweler Jacob & Co, which was found on a Paris street the day after the robbery. The pendant is composed of six diamonds, though it’s difficult to determine the precise cut from the available photos.”

He added: “This particular necklace holds immense personal value for Kim, as it was the first piece of jewelry she had ever bought with her own earnings, marking a defining moment in the early days of her career.

“Although the pendant is no longer available for purchase, it was originally priced at $33,180. For Kim, the return of this piece symbolized not just resilience but a deep, emotional connection to her past. She’s previously revealed that getting it back felt like reclaiming a part of her glamour, underscoring that its importance far surpassed its monetary value.”

Kardashian has forgiven at least one of the men she faced in court.

Reuters noted that a letter of apology written by 69-year-old defendant Aomar Ait Khedache, nicknamed “Omar the Old,” who can no longer speak, was read.

“I’m honestly emotional about it,” Kardashian told the court. “I do appreciate the letter for sure, I forgive you. But it doesn’t change the feelings and the trauma and the fact that my life was forever changed, but I do appreciate the letter. Thank you.”

His response to her was read aloud in the courtroom: “Your forgiveness is a sunshine that has enlightened me … I am forever grateful.”

Khedache is accused of being the ringleader in the heist, but has denied that.
