Kim Kardashian has proven once again that she will go to great lengths to bring joy to her family, especially her sister Khloé. This time, her gesture involved shelling out over $80,000 for a Bible that once belonged to their late father, Robert Kardashian.

The recent episode of The Kardashians shed light on Kim’s efforts to secure the Bible, which had been in the possession of O.J. Simpson’s estate. Kim’s goal was to surprise Khloé, who initially discovered the Bible was up for auction. The sentimental value of the item is significant; Robert had gifted it to Simpson before the infamous trials following the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, and it accompanied Simpson to prison.

In a discussion with her consultant, Kim recounted her initial attempt to acquire the Bible with a $15,000 bid, which was quickly deemed insufficient by the estate. Her plan to increase the offer to $30,000 was thwarted when news of the auction leaked to TMZ, aiming to draw more attention.

Reflecting on the situation, Kim expressed her frustration: “I would’ve negotiated,” she admitted. “I guess I had a little too much faith in humanity for a minute there.” Despite the challenges, Kim’s determination to honor her father’s legacy and surprise Khloé with such a meaningful gift showcases her enduring commitment to family.

“I would’ve negotiated,” Kim said. “I guess I had a little too much faith in humanity for a minute there.”

After the episode dropped on Hulu, the estate’s executive, Malcolm LaVergne, blasted Kim, telling TMZ, “I like how she’s trying to frame the story as I’m trying to keep it from her. No wonder she can’t pass the bar. By the way, I’ve passed three. First time each. New York, Texas, and Nevada. I will give her credit for being richer than me. No denying that.”

The Bible ended up selling for $65,800 — which was really $80,276 with its buyer’s premium — to an anonymous bidder in March. LaVergne told TMZ at the time that he did not know who won the auction item …. but if he keeps up with The Kardashians on Hulu, he’s about to find out.

In this week’s episode, titled “The Love That You Once Had,” Kim reveals that she was the anonymous bidder and was able to safely secure her dad’s Bible, which not only had his name inscribed on the cover, but also had a handwritten letter to Simpson on the first page.

“If anyone was wondering who won that O.J. Simpson auction, you best believe it was me,” Kim says in the episode. “We used an alias to bid on the Bible so that my name wouldn’t be traced back to it.”

New episodes of The Kardashians drop every Thursday on Hulu.
