Major congratulations are in order for son of La La Anthony and basketball legend, Carmelo Anthony. The talented athlete won the MVP honor at The Throne Championship.

The Throne high school basketball tournament features some of the top high school basketball teams in the country. And Kiyan proved that he is indeed the king of the throne as the 18-year-old scored an impressive 25 points, five rebounds, he had three assists, and 9-15 field goals, helping to lead his Long Island Lutheran team to only victory over Allen High School (Texas). As a result of Long Island Lutheran’s impressive win, the school also received a $10,000 prize from the National Basketball Players Association.

And as you would expect, his number one fan, mom La La Anthony, was over joyed with her son’s career building moment, sharing the news on social media with her fans. “MVP!!! Always making me so proud @kiyananthony,” she wrote followed by a gold award and single red heart emoji.

Recently, Kiyan announced his decision to follow in his father’s footsteps and attend Syracuse University over University of Southern California.

The 6’5″ senior Kiyan shared the big news on YouTube while making an appearance on his father’s 7PM in Brooklyn podcast. However, although Kiyan is following in his father’s collegiate footsteps, Carmelo himself admits that their games are completely different and Kiyan will indeed carve out his own legacy.

“I think my game back then at 16 was a little more physical. I just had a different type of mentality because of how I was growing up and my upbringing and what I was around in my environment, so my ‘why’ was a lot different,” the NBA legend said.

“[Kiyan] has skills that I didn’t have. His court vision at this level is very high. His shot-making ability is high. And I think people look at him for being able to make shots and take away from his actual playmaking and IQ of the game,” he added.

Kiyan is the only son for both La La Anthony and Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo also shares a seven-year-old daughter, Genesis Harlo Anthony, with Mia Burks.
