Thirteen-year-old viral sensation Knowa De Baraso is making a big impact in politics and inspiring young people along the way.

Knowa is one of the youngest voices in the Democratic Party, having even campaigned for Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election. Now, with President Donald Trump back in the White House, he’s sharing his candid thoughts on Trump’s performance so far.

In a recent interview with Scripps News, he said, “My impression so far, Holly, is that we’re going to be set back to the 1940s by next Monday. With all these executive orders, great policy that are being signed and repealed, we had no ulterior motive but to benefit the American people. These are some things seen since the 1960s—things that are being taken away. When Kamala Harris said we’re not going back. This is exactly what we’re talking about.”

In 2024, De Baraso also spoke to Scripps about what the Democratic Party needs to do moving forward. One key suggestion: securing a “true leader.”

“What the Democratic party needs right now is a true leader,” De Baraso said. “David Hogg just put his hat in the ring for vice chair. It’s not the race of the leadership that really excites young people. It’s more so their ideas. You could be a White male, you could be a Black lady or your could be a Black man — if you believe in conservatism, we’re not going to be excited about it. It’s less about the race of the person and more about their ideas.”

Additionally, De Baraso shared his vision for the Trump Administration over the next four years.

“I want to see young people on Twitter, on Instagram — constantly criticizing what Donald Trump has done. Not only that, but take a nonpartisan approach to applaud some of the good things he could do,” De Baraso told the outlet.

“Let’s say he actually takes a step — which is highly unlikely — to do something about the gun violence epidemic. Applaud him for that, so he knows when he’s doing good and doing bad. Don’t just criticize him for each and every thing, because that could be really dangerous.”
