Kylie Kelce is setting the record straight on meeting Taylor Swift. In an interview following Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIX loss, the tight end’s sister-in-law dished on her first meeting with the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer. Plus, how she—and her husband Jason Kelce—learned the two were dating. 

Kylie Kelce says she didn’t avoid meeting Taylor Swift

In the Feb. 11 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast host Alex Cooper sat down with Kylie.  Part of their wide-ranging conversation included her initial meeting with Swift. 

“The world saw you and Taylor meet obviously for the first time at the Chiefs and Bills game. Was that the first time you guys met?” Cooper asked, referencing the January 2024 game in Kansas City, Miss., at Arrowhead Stadium. 

“Yes,” Kylie said, acknowledging the drama some people made about the timing of their introduction. “People are deeply disturbed by this. There was, like, all this stuff leading up to it [the meeting] about, ‘Well, why haven’t they met, they’re avoiding each other.’” 

At that point, Kelce and Swift had been dating for approximately six months after first connecting in the summer of 2023. “I’m not avoiding anyone,” Kylie said. The 32-year-old went on to say she’s open to meeting “anybody,” but especially “someone that Travis is dating.” 

“It was funny to me because I kept saying to people, ‘I didn’t meet Travis for probably close to a year when Jase and I were dating,’” she explained. Kylie also shared that she and Jason had a double date with Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end at one of their homes.

Cooper also asked Kylie how Kelce told his family he’d started dating Swift. “I’m assuming your family was, like, getting told this in some capacity?” Cooper said, to which Kylie replied, “We were not.”

“I will say, we knew before everyone else knew but it was not, like…it did not hit the group chat,” the soon-to-be mother of four explained. When Cooper pressed, asking whether she first heard the news from her husband, Kylie said they “found out together.” 

“Jase and I found out together,” Kylie said, blushing and laughing. “But we knew before they hard launched with her going to a game,” she added, referencing Swift’s first Chiefs game on Sept. 24, 2023.

Kylie’s not the only one who has opened up about first-meetings since Kelce and Swift began dating. The Kansas City Chiefs star once shared a little bit about meeting Swift’s dad, Scott Swift, on a 2023 episode of his and Jason’s “New Heights” podcast. 

Kelce had traveled to Argentina for the Eras Tour when Swift introduced him to her dad over dinner. While the NFL star didn’t share a play-by-play of meeting his girlfriend’s father, he did suggest he convinced Scott, a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, to wear Chiefs gear to the “Fortnight” singer’s concert. Sure enough, photos and videos showed Scott wearing a Chiefs lanyard as he and Kelce watched Swift perform.
