Actor Lamorne Morris might be looking to take his on-screen love life into the real world.
The former New Girl star recently made a playful remark about wanting a new romantic interest, and ideally, it would be none other than his former co-star Nasim Pedrad. On the beloved Fox series, Pedrad portrayed Aly, who eventually ties the knot with Morris’s character, Winston.
This surprising revelation came during an episode of The Mess Around, a New Girl rewatch podcast hosted by Morris alongside Hannah Simone. In a TikTok clip that surfaced on March 1, Morris casually unveiled his intentions.
“I’m going to date Nasim,” the 42-year-old actor declared. “Where is she? I’m going to date Nasim.”
Simone was quick to support the idea, showing her enthusiasm for the potential off-screen pairing.
“You should,” she told him. “Everybody’s been wanting this. Everybody’s been shopping this for a long time.”
Still, Simone suggested Morris should take the more traditional route and actually ask Pedrad out.
“You should ask her on a real date,” she said.
So Morris did exactly that — dialing Pedrad on the spot.
When she answered, Morris jumped right in: “I was just like, ‘You know what, I’m just gonna date Nasim in real life.’ So, what’s up?”
Pedrad, a Saturday Night Live alum, sounded amused by the sudden proposal.
“Are you talking about now? Or back then?” she asked.
But Morris clarified that he meant right now.
“You got a man? You dating somebody? I just saw you the other day, you seemed single,” he said.
Morris — who is dad to 5-year-old daughter Lily — even suggested they could skip the dating stage entirely since they already know each other so well.
“Just be boyfriend-girlfriend,” he joked, noting that the two had already “gone on many a date as friends.”
“Nasim, you’re being too complicated,” Morris continued. “So yeah, I’m going to ask you on a date. I don’t know when, I’m busy so I ain’t got the time. But I will make the time.”
Surprisingly, Pedrad was on board.
“I’m down! Let’s go on a date!” she told him.
She couldn’t resist teasing him, though.
“Are you gonna talk to me about the girls you’ve met on Raya?” she joked. “‘Cause that’s a huge part of our relationship right now.”
Whether the two actually carve out time for a real-life date remains to be seen, but Simone was already celebrating the possibility.
“You two really need to date ‘cause that was literally the worst way to ask a woman out on a date and you still somehow got a date,” she said. “Do you understand? Like, that’s magic. You guys have a real friendship. That’s a true foundation. Y’all age appropriate. She’s hot as hell. She’s got a job.”
While Morris and Pedrad have kept their personal lives largely private, Morris has previously made it clear he isn’t a fan of playing games when it comes to dating.
“Listen, there are no rules. It’s just do whatever you want to do,” he told Glamour in 2016. “Literally, do whatever you want to do. If I like it, I like it. If I don’t, I don’t. Then relationships become about strategy and there’s no validity to it. If you feel like texting me, text me!”
