This situation came to light when a user, known as @TheBlackoreee on X (formerly Twitter), recounted the incident in response to a post by Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola, who had shared a similar story.
@TheBlackoreee revealed that the incident unfolded last year when his friend undertook renovations on her apartment, only to face a sudden rent increase. Unable to meet the new financial demands, she was forced to move out. “One of my friends experienced this particular thing last year,” he tweeted, expressing frustration over the unfairness of the situation, as his friend could no longer afford to stay.

In her tweet, which has garnered over 330k views, Bolaji Ogunmola shared that the landlord doubled the rent of a tenant after the apartment was renovated.
