Barcelona president Joan Laporta has reassured fans that Lamine Yamal’s contract renewal is all but finalized, quelling speculation that financial constraints could jeopardize the club’s grip on their teenage sensation.

In an interview with La Vanguardia (via Mundo Deportivo), Laporta made it clear that the 16-year-old winger, widely regarded as one of the brightest talents in world football, is committed to staying at Camp Nou.

The club expects to formally sign the extension once Yamal turns 18 in July.

“His renewal is practically already agreed. It only requires ratification,” Laporta stated. “He’s a genius who enjoys playing for Barça. He’s integrated, happy, and has strong ties within the squad.”

Yamal, represented by agent agent Jorge Mendes, is set to receive a contract reflective of his exceptional potential, though Laporta was keen to stress that Barcelona’s wage policy remains responsible.

“We pay players according to their abilities. We’re a club that pays well, but fairly. There’s no better place for him than Barça.”
