A side view of Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

TV

Lauren Graham’s most iconic character, Lorelai Gilmore found love with Luke Danes. While Graham dated at least one of Lorelai’s love interests IRL, she hasn’t found her perfect match yet.

Last year, Lauren Graham set the internet abuzz when she revealed she had dated some of the men who appeared on Gilmore Girls over the years. Graham, who has kept her private life mostly private, didn’t give away a whole lot of information. She left Gilmore Girls fans to speculate on exactly which men may have been her off-screen love interests. While Graham still isn’t giving away names, she recently offered more clues. We have some theories.

Lauren Graham discusses acting and dating

Lauren Graham has had an illustrious acting career, but has admitted her personal life was a bit harder to navigate. Over the years, Graham has been open about dating, her struggles to find a long-term partner, and how it felt to be uncoupled in Hollywood. While Graham has talked about being single in the entertainment industry, she has had several relationships and dated around a bit. She even dated some men from the cast of Gilmore Girls.

Graham’s big admission last year had everyone talking; now she’s elaborating. During her recent appearance on Call Her Daddy, Lauren Graham offered a bit more insight into her dating life on the set of Gilmore Girls. While the famed actor and author isn’t going to name any names, she did reveal that at least one of the men she dated from Gilmore Girls had also been Lorelai Gilmore’s love interest. Graham wouldn’t tell host Alex Cooper which of Lorelai’s love interests she spent personal time with, but she admitted that the word “dating” might be used a bit liberally.

Can we figure out which of Lorelai’s love interests Lauren Graham dated?

While Lauren Graham wouldn’t say which of Lorelai’s love interests she dated, Lorelai’s romantic life was pretty sparse, all things considered. It should be easy enough to figure it out. During the show’s seven-season run, Lorelai had four main love interests.

She first dated Max Medina, Rory’s English teacher. Their romance spanned most of season 12, with Max returning several times throughout the series. Scott Cohen played him. While Cohen and Graham certainly had chemistry, it never spilled over into real life. In 2024, Page Six reported that Cohen and his wife had been in a serious car accident. Both were okay, but the headlines shed light on their romance. Cohen and his wife tied the knot in 1989, years before he became “Max…Max Medina.”

Lorelai briefly dated a man named Alex, portrayed by Billy Burke. While Burke is best known for his role in Twilight now, he did have plenty of chemistry with Graham. While we’ll never know if they actually hooked up, it’s possible. Burke and Graham were single when he appeared on the show, and his character’s quick and mysterious departure makes us question if an off-screen romance, perhaps, went sour quickly.

Lorelai Gilmore then dated Jason Stiles. Chris Eigeman portrayed Jason. While Graham and Eigeman had a pre-existing relationship when he joined the cast of Gilmore Girls, it wasn’t romantic. Eigeman has been married since 1993. He and Graham have always been just friends.

Lorelai also romanced Christopher Hayden and Luke Danes, played by David Sutcliffe and Scott Patterson, respectively. Graham has made it clear that she and Patterson were never romantically linked. She hasn’t been as outspoken about Sutcliffe, though. While Sutcliffe was briefly married in the early 2000s, by 2003, he was divorced. It’s possible sparks flew between the two actors.
