Travis Clark confesses to cheating on Katie Bates Clark
On Saturday, Travis Clark took to Instagram to publicly admit to being unfaithful to Katie, his wife of four years.
“This is difficult to say, but I owe everyone the truth and my sincerest apologies. I was unfaithful to my wife. I had an affair and repeatedly betrayed her trust,” the 24-year-old father of two disclosed.
“There is no justification for my actions. This is my failure and I am solely responsible. I realize that words cannot fully convey the damage I have caused or the depth of pain I have brought into her life, but I am genuinely sorry,” he continued. Travis also mentioned that he is “taking responsibility by seeking help and working towards becoming a more honest and accountable person.”
This revelation came just one day after 25-year-old Katie shared on social media the heartbreaking news of her miscarriage.
Not long after Travis confessed to infidelity, Lawson, 33, seemingly weighed in with an Instagram post of his own.
“One day, someone might tell your kids, ‘You’re just like your dad,’” the Bringing Up Bates star wrote over a video of himself working out. “Make sure it’s a compliment, not an insult.”
In his caption, he cited a Bible verse that appeared directed to his brother-in-law.
“Young men exhort to be sober minded. In all things showing a pattern of good works,” the quote from Titus 2:6-8 read. “In doctrine show incorruptness, gravity, sincerity, and sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.”
On January 18, Lawson shared a post on his Instagram Story where he thanked his younger sister for “dropp[ing] everything” and coming to the hospital to support him and his wife, Tiffany Espensen, when she gave birth to their second child on January 12.
“You’re one of the kindest and most genuine people I know,” he wrote of Katie, who also appeared with Lawson on the now-canceled UPtv reality series with their parents and 17 other siblings. “We love you and are always here for you.”
Katie has not publicly commented on her husband’s affair. But her most recent Instagram post has been flooded with words of support, both from people offering sympathy after her pregnancy loss and from those weighing in on her husband’s confession.
Some followers urged her to try to work things out with Travis.
“We need to pray for you and Travis that God can heal this marriage and You can find it in your Heart to forgive. I have seen miracles happen,” one person wrote.
But many others advised Katie to walk away.
“Leave him please,” one wrote. “You deserved better, a truly man who only have eyes [for] you.”
