LeBron James Demolished His $37 Million Beverly Hills Mansion to Build 2 Larger Mega Mansions in Its Place

LeBron James, renowned as one of the NBA’s all-time legends, possesses a real estate collection that mirrors his stellar basketball career.

Known as “King James,” he has acquired remarkable residences across several states. During his stint with the Miami Heat, he secured a luxurious six-bedroom, 16,000-square-foot mansion in Coconut Grove for $9 million. After putting it on the market in 2014, he successfully sold it for $13.4 million. Additionally, he owned three stunning homes in the Los Angeles suburbs.

In his native Akron, Ohio, James invested over $2.1 million for a property, which he transformed by demolishing the existing structure to construct a custom mansion. He is now replicating this approach with a $36.75 million estate in Beverly Hills, planning to develop two extravagant mega mansions on the site.

Let’s delve into the specifics of this ambitious project.

The Beverly Hills property was stunning even before James had it demolished

James owned three properties in LA County, two in Brentwood and one in Beverly Hills.

In 2015, he snatched up a six-bedroom mansion in the ritzy Brentwood neighborhood for $21 million. James liked the area so much that two years later, he dropped $23 million on another Brentwood estate. That home features eight bedrooms, marble floors, and walls of glass that open to the Southern California sun.

His Beverly Hills compound is equally as impressive and for years has served as the primary residence for James, his wife Savannah, and their three children. It boasts over 13,000 square feet of living space and sits on more than two-and-a-half acres of land. It has two poolhouses, a tennis court, and a movie theater. It was previously owned by the creator of the soap operas The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful

After buying the Beverly Hills home, James put his Brentwood houses on the market. The one he bought in 2015 sold for $20.5 million, and the one he purchased in 2017 sold for $19.6 million.

James will spare no expense on his new mega mansions

James had his family’s Beverly Hills estate demolished to make way for two gigantic mansions.

According to Realtor.com, the Lakers star received permission to turn the original 2.72-acre parcel into two separate plots, each of which will be its own mansion. Planning applications show that the larger of the two homes will span about 16,000 square feet across two stories and will include a 7,700-square-foot basement and a two-level garage. The backyard will have a pool, a spa, an outdoor kitchen, and a spacious area for entertaining.

The second mansion will be 6,550 square feet. Some of its amenities will include a two-car garage, a movie theater, hot and cold plunge pools, and a terrace.

The architectural design firm Walker Workshop will complete both properties.

“Critical to our mission is the awareness that thoughtfully executed space can elevate the body and mind of its inhabitants,” the company’s website reads. “With the same level of care and consideration that goes into crafting a museum, place of worship, or sacred space, Walker Workshop aims to design and build one-of-a-kind works of art people can live in.”
