Although it’s been a while since her days on Wisteria Lane, former Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has found a new place to call home.
In a November 2024 interview with Marie Claire, Eva shared her reasons for leaving Los Angeles, a city that had been central to her adult life. “Even before the pandemic, things were changing, and the vibe was different,” she explained. “Then COVID hit, and it was the tipping point. Whether it’s issues like homelessness or high taxes—not that I want to criticize California—but it feels like I’ve closed that chapter of my life.”
For the last few years, Eva, her husband José Bastón, and their son Santiago have been dividing their time between Mexico and Spain.
“I recognize how fortunate I am,” she added. “I have the means to relocate. Many Americans don’t have that luxury and are left to face the challenges in what feels like a dystopian country. My heart goes out to them, and it fills me with anxiety and sadness.”
Eva clarified that her decision to move wasn’t influenced by President Trump’s re-election.
“I didn’t leave because of the political environment,” the Flamin’ Hot director said on The View: Behind the Table podcast in November 2024. “I left because my work took me there since Land of Women—shooting six months in Catalonia, then four months in Mexico for Searching for Mexico, then back to Spain. Now I’ve been there for years. So I just don’t like that it’s politicized.”
Since moving, Eva has continued to stay busy, with recent projects including her roles in Only Murders in the Building and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.
