Lena Dunham pitched Andy Cohen a "Scandoval" movie starring Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Scott

Vanderpump Rules might be ready to move on from Scandoval, but Lena Dunham isn’t.

While Bravo preps a rebooted Season 12 with a brand-new cast, Dunham revealed she’s still deeply invested in the cheating scandal that rocked Season 10 — and she even tried to pitch a dramatic adaptation of it.

On a recent episode of the Shut Up Evan podcast, Dunham shared that she actually pitched a mini-movie based on the now-infamous affair between Tom Sandoval and Rachel Leviss, which culminated in a volcanic Season 10 reunion episode where Ariana Madix finally confronted them both.

“We should basically create like a mini movie in which actors treat this as canon and get up and perform it with all the passion and virtuosity of Shakespeare,” Dunham said, describing her vision with full dramatic flair. She admitted she even “went so far as to abuse Andy Cohen’s contact information to pitch him the idea.”

Although Cohen didn’t greenlight Dunham’s pitch, he did take inspiration from it, hosting a live reading of the Vanderpump Rules Season 10 reunion on Sirius XM’s Radio Andy, according to Deadline. That version featured an all-star lineup including Chloe Fineman, Sarah Sherman, Cheyenne Jackson, Amber Tamblyn, Susan Lucci, Chrissy Teigen, and more — but it wasn’t quite the prestige drama Dunham had in mind.

In her dream casting, Dunham saw Andrew Scott taking on the role of Sandoval and Jennifer Lawrence playing Madix, delivering their dialogue as if it were scripted by the Bard himself. “I want to take these words and direct them like it’s really serious theater,” she said.

The real-life fallout between Madix and Sandoval played out in Vanderpump Rules Season 11, which failed to repair the damage between them — or with viewers. After an underwhelming season, Bravo opted to hit the reset button, confirming that Season 12 would feature a totally new cast. A teaser released last month promised a revamped vibe, leaving behind the show’s original core.

Still, if Lena Dunham gets her way, the legacy of Scandoval might live on — not just on Peacock, but on stage.
