Lily Allen understands that life can be challenging at times.
Eight months following her split from estranged husband David Harbour, Lily has opened up about how her upcoming album offers a glimpse into the dissolution of their four-year marriage.
Speaking to British Vogue in an interview released on October 17, she said, “I crafted this album in December 2024 as a way to make sense of the events unfolding in my life. While the record reflects experiences within my marriage, it doesn’t claim to be an exact account. It’s more of an artistic interpretation of the relationship’s dynamics.”
Reflecting on her emotions during the swift 16-day recording process, Lily described feeling “confusion, sorrow, grief, helplessness.”
The 40-year-old artist expressed these sentiments in her lyrics, such as in “Sleepwalking,” where she writes, “You let me think it was me in my head / and nothing to do with them girls in your bed.” Another track, “Dallas Major,” includes the lines, “You know I used to be quite famous that was way back in the day / I probably should explain how my marriage has been open since my husband went astray.”
