NBC’s highly anticipated Fall 2026 television schedule is taking shape, and the network is opening the season with Line of Fire, a suspenseful family drama from creator and writer Joshua Safran, whose previous credits include Gossip Girl, Quantico, and Smash.
According to NBC’s official synopsis, Line of Fire follows a family of law enforcement professionals whose personal conflicts collide with their demanding careers. Working across the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, Secret Service, and Department of Justice, the family faces a routine case that spirals into a deadly conspiracy. To solve the mystery and protect each other, they must draw on a lifetime of defending civilians and political leaders—even if doing so requires them to violate the code they swore to uphold.
The premise is already enough to grab attention, but the cast makes the series even more enticing. Jenna Bush Hager, whose experiences as a former First Daughter loosely informed elements of the drama, is also attached as an executive producer.
Ahead of the Line of Fire premiere, here’s a guide to the show’s central characters and the actors bringing this complicated law enforcement family to life.
Peter Krause as Mike Hollingsworth
Peter Krause leads the family as Mike Hollingsworth, a Secret Service agent assigned to presidential protection details. While Mike is trusted to safeguard the nation’s leaders, he appears to be concealing secrets of his own.
The 61-year-old actor, director, and producer has extensive experience in network television. He recently completed an acclaimed eight-season run as Fire Captain Bobby Nash on ABC’s 9-1-1. His earlier credits include standout performances in Parenthood, Six Feet Under, Sports Night, The Catch, Dirty Sexy Money, and many other projects.
Hope Davis as Jane Hollingsworth
Hope Davis portrays Jane Hollingsworth, the family matriarch and a U.S. Marshal.
Davis, 62, is a celebrated stage and screen performer with more than 70 film and television credits. The three-time Emmy nominee has appeared in American Splendor, About Schmidt, Captain America: Civil War, Succession, Your Honor, Perry Mason, For the People, Wayward Pines, The Newsroom, Six Degrees, Furious, and numerous other productions.
Tommy O’Brien as Mike “Micah” Hollingsworth Jr.
Tommy O’Brien plays Mike “Micah” Hollingsworth Jr., a Secret Service agent assigned to work alongside his father on the president’s detail. His already complicated position becomes even more dangerous because he is secretly involved with the president’s daughter. In a Line of Fire teaser, O’Brien describes Micah as someone living in his father’s shadow—an experience that is “very difficult to navigate.” He also calls the character “very risky” and “completely uninhibited.”
Viewers may recognize the 34-year-old actor from appearances in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Grown-ish, Watson, Stumptown, Shameless, Grey’s Anatomy, and other television and film projects.
Kat Cunning as Clare Hollingsworth
Kat Cunning stars as Clare Hollingsworth, an FBI agent whose professional life brings her into direct contact with her mother. Clare is fiercely independent, and Cunning explains in a Line of Fire teaser that the character “marches to the beat of her own drum” while spending much of her time rebelling against Jane.
Beyond Line of Fire, the 36-year-old actor, model, dancer, singer, and recording artist has appeared in American Hostage, On Swift Horses, Rap Sh!t, Star People, The Deuce, Station 19, and additional projects.
Taylor Bloom as Russ Hollingsworth
Taylor Bloom plays Russ Hollingsworth, the youngest sibling and a newly hired Department of Justice analyst. Russ is determined to hold on to his job, even as his family repeatedly asks him to get involved in their problems.
Bloom may be familiar to audiences from American Horror Story Season 11 and The Vince Staples Show. The actor is also an accomplished musician and songwriter, leaving fans hopeful that the series will find a way to feature those talents.
Savannah Lee Smith as Sydney (aka Sparrow)

Savannah Lee Smith plays Sydney “Sparrow,” the college-aged daughter of the president. She is secretly involved with Micah, the Secret Service agent assigned to protect her.
The 26-year-old actor is known for playing Monet de Haan in the 2021 Gossip Girl reboot. Her other credits include the 2024 Cruel Intentions series, Tinsel Town, and several additional projects.
Antoinette Crowe-Legacy as Nia Wallace
Antoinette Crowe-Legacy portrays Nia Wallace, a Homeland Security detective who becomes entangled in the Hollingsworth family’s investigation. Determined to uncover what really happened, Nia makes finding the truth her top priority.
Before joining Line of Fire, Crowe-Legacy appeared in Passing and Apple TV+’s WeCrashed. She is perhaps best known for her role as Elise Johnson in Godfather of Harlem.
Pico Alexander as Logan
Pico Alexander plays Logan, Clare Hollingsworth’s boyfriend, who meets the family in the Line of Fire pilot. His introduction does not go exactly as planned, but revealing what happens next would spoil a major twist—so viewers should prepare themselves.
The 35-year-old actor has built an impressive résumé spanning nearly 30 film and television projects, including Home Again, A Most Violent Year, War Machine, Catch-22, Saint X, Gossip Girl, Dickinson, and more.
Charlie Barnett
To describe Charlie Barnett’s role in Line of Fire would be to spoil Charlie Barnett’s role in Line of Fire. So let’s just dive into the 38-year-old actor’s career, shall we? Bartnett is likely best known for his role as Peter Mills in Chicago Fire, but he’s also starred in dozens of other projects, including You, Arrow, Russian Doll, The Acolyte, and more.
Chris Chalk as President Kayana
Chris Chalk will star as Line of Fire‘s current President Kayana aka Sydney’s dad. Per Deadline, he’s “strong and decisive but worries his numbers are not where they should be and is seeking to course correct.”
If Chalk looks familiar, you likely recognize the 48-year-old actor and director from roles in other popular TV shows and films like Gotham, It: Welcome to Derry, The Newsroom, Perry Mason, When They See Us, Shining Girls, Our Deadly Vows, and dozens of other credits.
Campbell Scott as Terry
Campbell Scott is set to play Jane’s boyfriend, Terry, who Deadline notes is also a U.S. Senator. “He’s hoping to move their relationship to the next level but knows that Jane’s first priorities will always be her work and her family,” the description reads. We can only assume some love triangle drama between Terry, Jane, and Mike awaits!
The 65-year-old acot, director, and producer is known for over 100 TV and film roles, but what makes his Line of Fire casting extra special is the fact that he’s a frequent collaborator with Davis. Over the years, the two have shared credits in Big Night, The Daytrippers, The Impostors, Final, The Secret Lives of Dentists, Six Degrees and more, including Hulu’s Furious. So look out, Mike! The chemsitry between Terry and Jane will be genuine and palpable!
Sam Waterston as Former President Thomas Barnes
Last but not least, Sam Waterston will play “former President Thomas Barnes,” who Mike fears has a hit out on him. Per Deadline, “He and Mike have a deep bond, but Mike is haunted by a close call from his time on detail.”
