The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City‘s premiere might’ve set fans up for a dramatic season, but it was noticeably missing one of its key players. Lisa Barlow, an OG on the hit Bravo series, did not attend Angie Katsanevas‘ mini cast trip to a Utah campground, resulting in much speculation among her castmates (and fans).
While Barlow told her co-stars that she couldn’t attend the RV trip because of a prior work obligation, not everyone was buying it. Some speculated that she didn’t want to be in a room with Bronwyn Newport after their explosive confrontation at the Season 5 reunion, while others suggested that she was busy dealing with legal issues pertaining to her business. Fans, meanwhile, have wondered whether Barlow was holding out on filming for a higher-paying contract.
All are fair guesses, so when Barlow stopped by Decider’s studio last week, we couldn’t help but ask her to clear the air. Keep reading for the real reason she was not included in the Season 6 premiere.
Did Lisa Barlow leave The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City?
No, Barlow did not leave The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
Why wasn’t Lisa Barlow in The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 6 premiere?
Barlow had a good excuse to miss the camping trip in the premiere episode (and it wasn’t because she was afraid to face Newport, dealing with legal issues, or holding out for higher pay in her contract). When Decider caught up with Barlow last week, she said she was busy attending two movie premieres at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, TX — one for Ben Affleck’s The Accountant 2 and another for Blake Lively’s Another Simple Favor.
“I was working, I’ve always been someone that works since Season 1,” Barlow said. “For me, this felt important for me to get back to feeling like me. These are the things that make me, me. I’m a true [Sagittarius]. I like to be busy. I define myself by my accomplishments. So, it felt good to be doing something like two premieres in Austin instead of being in an RV. I didn’t miss out. “
However, Barlow did say that she was “surprised” to be completely cut out of the first episode since her co-stars did call her at one point during their trip.
“I was kind of surprised that I wasn’t in anything and that I was the topic of conversation,” she said. “I was like, ‘This is ridiculous.’”
