The Lord of the Rings alum Liv Tyler is set to make her triumphant return to the Marvel Comic Universe by reprising her role as Betty Ross from Louis Leterrier’s 2008 movie The Incredible Hulk.

The 45-year-old SAG Award winner – who last made headlines for her London trip in July – will play the cellular biologist in Julius Onah’s MCU four-quel Captain America: New World Order, according to THR.

Filming is already underway on the set in Atlanta with Anthony Mackie returning as Avenger and former pararescueman Sam Wilson, who famously took over the shield from retired Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) in Avengers: Endgame in 2019.

‘I think with my Cap, he’s not a superhero. He doesn’t have a super serum, so his superpower is his humanity,’ the 44-year-old Independent Spirit Award nominee explained to Yahoo last month.

‘Sam has to come to the stage with a very different understanding of what it is to be a good guy, or be a bad guy, and what are the decisions that make you toe that line in the way that you do? I just see him as more of a humane Cap, as opposed to a Cap of judgment, where “this is right and this is wrong.” There are decisions that make you choose right or wrong.’

Oscar nominee Harrison Ford will take over the role of Liv’s onscreen father -President of the United States Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross – previously played by Oscar winner William Hurt, who passed away a year ago at age 71.

Tyler will also be joined in New World Order by Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, Tim Blake Nelson as Leader, Shira Haas as Sabra, and Xosha Roquemore as a mystery character.

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and Marvel are scheduled to release the fourth installment of the Captain America franchise on May 3, 2024 in the UK/States.

The native New Yorker hasn’t had an acting gig since playing chief paramedic Michelle Blake in 10 episode of Fox’s 9-1-1: Lone Star in 2020.

Liv has also has memorable roles in Empire Records, Stealing Beauty, That Thing You Do!, Armageddon, and HBO’s The Leftovers.

On Sunday, Tyler’s famous father – Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler – celebrated his 75th birthday.

Last December, Julia Holcomb Misley sued the newly-rehabbed rocker for alleged sexual assault and sexual battery in 1973, when she was 16 and he was 25, and her parents signed over legal guardianship to him so she could join him on tour.

The 5ft10in brunette – whose mother Bebe Buell told her Todd Rundgren was her father – wasn’t aware Steven was her real father until age 10 when she discovered her obvious resemblance to half-sister Mia Tyler.

Liv fully took advantage of her nepo-baby privilege in 1993 when she made her acting debut in Aerosmith’s music video for Crazy alongside Alicia Silverstone.
