NBA star, Luka Doncic has signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers.

This was announced by Shams Charania, a renowned American sports reporter specializing in NBA coverage, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

According to Shams Charania, the multi million contract extension makes him eligible for a projected five-year, $417 million contract in 2028.

His tweet reads,“BREAKING: Los Angeles Lakers All-NBA star Luka Doncic has signed a three-year, $165 million maximum contract extension with the franchise, with a player option in 2028, agent Bill Duffy of WME Basketball told ESPN”.

“This now keeps Doncic out of free agency next summer and committed to the Lakers — and makes him eligible for a projected five years and $417 million in 2028”.

It’s worth noting that Luka Doncic joined the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2025, as part of a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Maverick.
