Madison LeCroy is calling for a little more respect from the cast of Southern Hospitality following a recent exchange at BravoCon. Her comments come after Bradley Carter threw some shade at Austen Kroll during the “Spilling The Sweet Southern Hospitali-Tea” panel held on November 15.
At the panel, Carter expressed his belief that not all cast members of Southern Charm are fully supportive of Southern Hospitality, the Bravo spinoff that showcases the lives of Leva Bonaparte’s team at Republican Garden & Lounge. He specifically mentioned Kroll, suggesting that while Kroll is outwardly friendly, he may not genuinely appreciate the spinoff’s success.
Carter remarked, “Although very kind to our face, I don’t think Austen Kroll likes our show.” He continued, saying that despite having a “good relationship” with Kroll, success can sometimes be perceived as a threat by others. Mia Alario chimed in, agreeing with Carter by exclaiming, “Great answer.”
The topic resurfaced during a Southern Charm panel when a fan questioned Kroll directly about any existing “animosity” towards Southern Hospitality. The spinoff debuted in 2022, eight years after Southern Charm first aired, prompting curiosity about the dynamics between the two casts.
The shade was brought up again today during Southern Charm’s panel when a fan asked Kroll if there is any “animosity” toward Southern Hospitality, which premiered in 2022, eight years after Southern Charm began airing.
“The quick answer is no,” Kroll replied, but LeCroy swiftly chimed in with a message. “Respect your elders,” she said.
According to Kroll, Carter texted him following yesterday’s panel. “He was like, ‘I knew I could say you. You wouldn’t care because I’m closer to you,’” the Top Hop Beers founder said. However, he did admit that there was some chatter about Southern Hospitality among the Southern Charm cast when it was first announced.
“I think that when their show started, yeah, we were texting about it. It’s a very small town. It’s the size of this room, which is what it feels like to live in Charleston,” he said. “We certainly talked and I like them all as individuals, and as Madison said … say it again.”
LeCroy then reiterated, “Respect your elders.” Whitney Sudler-Smith, Southern Charm’s creator and executive producer, also added that if Southern Hospitality “didn’t have [their] lead-in show, they’d be rating with 1,000-lb Sisters.” He quickly walked his shade back, telling the audience that there is “no animosity” and “we love everyone.”
When Decider caught up with Bonaparte and Michols Peña in the press room on Saturday, the latter shed more details on the alleged gossip coming from Kroll.
“I don’t have an issue with Austen at all,” Peña said. “But I will say, around town, there are multiple times when somebody from Charm will come up to us and say, ‘Oh, I was just at this place with Austen and he was talking a lot of shit about you guys.’”
Bonaparte, for her part, wasn’t surprised to hear that Kroll had allegedly been talking poorly about her show.
“So, Austen’s a great time. He just talks so much shit. That’s the problem I always have with him. I’m like, ‘I want to love you, we get along so well, but you just talk shit all of the time,’” she said. “There’s a side of him I love and I side where I’m like, ‘Listen, you little shit. Don’t say shit like that. I want to love you, we get along. Why’d you say some dumb shit about one of my kids?’”
