A Married At First Sight groom has launched legal action against a media outlet over ‘hurtful’ claims he is an ‘abusive and aggressive person’ who put his wife at risk while filming the Channel Nine dating show.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal Harrison Boon, 32, has engaged lawyers to order cease and desist letters and explore defamation lawsuits against So Dramatic Media Pty Ltd after the outlet’s podcast and website made sensational claims against the Sydney-based builder.

On March 15, the podcast aired shocking claims Boon was ‘allegedly manipulative’ and put his wife Bronte Schofield’s safety at risk while filming MAFS last year.

Boon says the serious allegations are not only patently false, but also maliciously defamatory.

Boon’s legal team says their client is entitled to substantial monetary damages and vindication, as well as costs for the damage these false claims have done to his reputation.

The lawyers have given the gossip outlet the opportunity to remedy the damage caused to their client, retract the statements made and provide undertakings to refrain from continuing with this conduct.

The allegations aired against the father-of-one include claims he is a ’emotional abuser’, a ‘textbook psychopath’, ‘manipulative, aggressive and threatening’ as well as stating ‘producers had to engage extra security personnel to stand outside Bronte’s door and escort her’.

Boon’s legal letter states the claims are unsubstantiated, without evidence, and with a reckless abandonment of the truth.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on the condition of anonymity, one cast member refuted the podcast’s claims.

‘Production never holds anyone against their will,’ they explained.

‘Tayla [Winter] boarded a plane to Tasmania against production’s directions. If Bronte wanted to leave she could have walked out at any time.

‘The claims against Harrison are absurd and quite frankly outrageous considering the full-time support and monitoring. If she didn’t feel safe she could have mentioned it at any time.’

Boon has denied all the gossip outlet’s claims, telling Daily Mail Australia the accusations are all ‘damaging to his reputation’ and ‘hurtful to his character’.

So Dramatic’s Megan Pustetto acknowledged receiving Boon’s legal letter and told Daily Mail Australia she is consulting with her legal team about her next steps.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Channel Nine and Bronte.
