Man allegedly kidnaps friend, collects ₦5.3m ransom in Anambra

A 24-year-old Nigerian man, Muanaenye Victor, has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly luring his friend into a kidnapping trap set by his criminal gang in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area.

Victor was said to have deceived his friend into following him to visit someone, only to hand him over to the gang, who later demanded a ransom.

According to police investigations, the gang collected a ransom in dollars equivalent to ₦5.3 million before releasing the victim.

The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Sunday, noting that Victor is cooperating with investigators and providing leads to help apprehend his accomplices.
