Welcome to the New Year, pop culture enthusiasts! The start of 2026 is bringing back a collection of beloved TV series with fresh episodes.

Kicking off the excitement, tune in to ABC on Tuesday, January 6, or catch up on Hulu the following day, to watch the latest episodes of Will Trent, High Potential, and The Rookie. As for Wednesdays, mark your calendars for January 7 on NBC, as the much-loved One Chicago series — Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. — make their return.

Thursdays are also set to delight fans with the return of hit shows Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Grey’s Anatomy, and 9-1-1. But if you’re wondering about your Friday night favorites like Fire Country and Sheriff Country, here’s the update you need.

Unfortunately, there won’t be any new episodes of these shows tonight, but don’t fret — they are slated to come back with new content in early 2026. So when exactly can fans expect the return of Fire Country and Sheriff Country? Here’s the scoop.

Are Fire Country and Sheriff Country New Tonight (January 2)?

This evening, CBS will be airing reruns instead. Catch Sheriff Country‘s “Out of Office” from Season 1, Episode 4, starting at 8:00 p.m. ET, followed by Fire Country with the episode “Goodbye For Now” from Season 4, Episode 1.

The night concludes with a rerun of Boston Blue (“Code of Ethics”).

When Do Fire Country and Sheriff Country Return With New Episodes?

Both Fire Country and Sheriff Country are off for the next few weeks. The two shows return with new episodes on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Where To Watch Fire Country and Sheriff Country Live:

New episodes of both programs are available to stream live on CBS or the CBS website (with a valid cable login).

The only way to watch shows airing live without cable is by using a live TV streaming service. Our favorite is DIRECTV, which comes with a five-day free trial before payment begins.

DIRECTV offers a number of flexible subscription options, including Genre Packs, so you can best choose which streaming plans fit your needs and budget. Plans start at $49.99/month.

Finally, you can also watch CBS live with an active subscription to fuboTV, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, Paramount+ Premium, or Sling TV. YouTube TV, fuboTV, Paramount+, and Hulu + Live TV offer free trials for new subscribers.
