In an era where the pressures of social media, academic expectations, and evolving social dynamics converge, mental health awareness has never been more critical, especially for girls and young people. As conversations about mental health gain momentum, it’s crucial to address the unique experiences and struggles faced by young individuals. Recently, actresses Marsai Martin and Sofia Wylie teamed up to speak on mental health awareness at the Kate Spade New York Global Summit on Women’s Mental Health.

As we know that the adolescent years are a formative period marked by rapid emotional, psychological, and physical changes, making this demographic particularly vulnerable to mental health challenges, it is good to see very prominent members of #younghollywood lending their voices to help bring about a change.

The former Black-ish actress took to social media sharing an image of herself at the summit. She started out her caption by highlighting the fact that “mental health is a fundamental right.”

“Good mental health is a fundamental human right!” the 20-year-old wrote. “Yesterday’s @katespadeny Global Summit on Women’s Mental Health and Empowerment brought together an amazing group of women—I’m thrilled to be among them. #katespadenyimpact.”

Martin and Wylie “Girls and Youth Mental Health, Combating Loneliness and Creating Community” panel. However, they were not the only two celebrity faces to attend the event. In addition to Martin and Wylie, US Olympian, Simone Biles and actress, Tarji P. Henson were also on hand to help bring awareness to mental health conditions.

During the event, Kate Spade New York released a new short film, starring Marsai and Taraji, along with Derry Girls actress Nicola Coughlan. All three women will star in the Fall 2024 campaign for the Global Fund for Women’s Mental Health.
