The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Enforcement Report has revealed that nearly 90,000 bottles of Children’s Ibuprofen Oral Suspension are being recalled by the pharmaceutical company. This action follows customer complaints about a gel-like mass and black particles found in the product, highlighting potential contamination with a foreign substance.

This week, the FDA categorized this recall as a Class II recall. Such a classification indicates that the use of or exposure to the product might lead to temporary or medically reversible health effects, with a low likelihood of causing serious harm.

USA Today has detailed that the specific product under recall is Strides Pharma’s 100 milligram Children’s Ibuprofen Oral Suspension, which is distributed in 4 fluid ounce bottles. The affected lot numbers are 7261973A and 7261974A, and these bottles carry an expiration date of January 31, 2027.

In 2026, Consumer Reports and FDA notices have documented a broad array of children’s product recalls, with food recalls predominating. The year has seen over 600 food recalls, primarily due to contamination issues and undeclared allergens.

Toys, baby gear, and nursery items account for a smaller share, with roughly 20 to 30 recalls reported.

Medications and medical products fall in between, with dozens to over a hundred recalls, often linked to manufacturing or safety concerns.

Parents should check their medicine cabinets and avoid using the affected product if they have it.
