On October 12, the highly-rated CBS show Matlock made a much-anticipated return for its second season. This reboot of the original series, famously headlined by Andy Griffith, now stars the illustrious Kathy Bates. Known for her roles in Titanic, American Horror Story, and Fried Green Tomatoes, Bates also won an Oscar for her performance in Misery.

In this incarnation of the CBS series, Bates portrays Madeline “Matty” Matlock, a former lawyer who steps down from her established career to take on a junior associate position at a top-tier law firm in New York City. Her mission is deeply personal—seeking justice for her daughter’s tragic death.

The legal drama will actually be back next week, on Thursday, December 4, at 9 p.m. ET and will be available to stream next day on Paramount+.
