Maurice Sam’s full name is Maurice Samuel Oluwaseun. He’s a Nigerian actor, model, and DJ. He was born on March 12, 1990, in Nsit Ibom, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria. He is of Igbo descent and was raised with a brother and a sister. He is the oldest among his siblings.
His father, Mr. Samuel, owns a logistics company in Lagos, and his mother, Mrs. Grace, is a homemaker. His younger brother, Daniel, works as a freelance graphic designer for advertising firms, while his sister, Esther, manages an African-inspired apparel business in Lekki.
He attended the renowned King’s College secondary school in Lagos, where he developed his affinity for the performing arts through drama club productions. He graduated in 2007. He then enrolled at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to study mass communication, graduating in 2012. He took short sessions at a Lagos theater workshop to strengthen his acting skills.

Maurice Sam Career
Maurice’s acting career began with his church’s drama group, where he performed in biblical skits and community plays, gaining praise for his emotive delivery. Inspired by Nollywood’s golden era stars such as Ramsey Noah, he began auditioning in Lagos after university, receiving multiple rejections but remaining determined. In 2016, his hard effort paid off when he was cast as Acid in Africa Magic’s TV series Hustle, a tale about ambition and street survival.
As of 2025, he has appeared in over 100 Nollywood films and television series. His appearance in the television series Hustle highlighted his talent and opened up new opportunities for him. He starred in the Netflix films Blood Sisters and Big Fat Liar. He has worked with industry heavyweights like Genevieve Nnaji, Funke Akindele, and Ruth Kadiri, whom he used to admire.
Aside from acting, he is a very good and prominent Nigerian DJ who goes by the name DJ Mo. He also models for businesses such as Nivea Men and Naija Fashion. In 2024, he co-produced the romantic drama A Heart to Love, which debuted at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF), demonstrating his expanding influence as a filmmaker. As of June 2025, Maurice is filming Love’s Edge, a romantic thriller slated to be released later this year. He founded his own production company, MoVibes, in 2019.
