Meghan Markle‘s long-awaited lifestyle show finally debuted on Netflix, but so far it hasn’t gotten the reception Prince Harry’s wife would have hoped for. Of course, members of the Sussex Squad are all in and have been praising the duchess and her ideas. But critics on both sides of the pond haven’t been as kind, calling With Love, Meghan “boring,” “fake,” and giving it a dismal score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Some of the reviewer’s comments posted on that website include: “Completely boring and unrelatable. As fake as fake can be,” “There’s everything to love, beautiful kitchen, beautiful scenery, etc, but zero authenticity; felt like I was being lied to,” “Sanctimonious drivel, what is Netflix thinking,” “This lady lives so far outside of reality …. This show seemed forced and boring and not for normal people,” and “After 10 minutes I was losing the will to live.”

After the Sussexes delivered one hit and three flops for Netflix, a lot was riding on this series for Meghan. And even though it’s been criticized for being “inauthentic” some commentators believe the former Suits star was directed to share more about her life, even more than Harry was comfortable with.

Expert believes Meghan had to reveal more than Prince Harry wanted in her show

Royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills discussed why she thinks Meghan had to “give more” of herself in the series with Sky News’s Daily podcast host Niall Paterson.

Mills explained: “So, the polo show bombed, and so Netflix will want to be recouping some of their money. In a way, it’s a bit like when Harry wrote his book, Spare. You got the impression that he had to give probably more than he maybe wanted in terms of an insight into his family life.

“I think Meghan, with this show as well, probably has had to kind of give more than … Well, certainly maybe give more than Harry would want her to in terms of letting them into her personal life.”

It’s been debated about just how much of her personal life Meghan actually gave to her audience though. Fans of the duchess appreciate the access to her through the show like seeing her discussions and interactions with her longtime pals, while critics claimed nothing felt real and pointed to the fact that the show wasn’t even filmed in the Sussexes’ home.

Meghan talked about her children in her Netflix series

Meghan does not talk about her children publicly too often, but she did mention Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in the series and what it’s like parenting two little ones.

While preparing a fruit plate, the duchess called it a “luxury” and a “delight” to be able to be at home with her kids as much as possible as she spoke about juggling work commitments with cooking and other everyday tasks.

She said: “It’s a real delight in being able to be a present parent, and it’s a luxury sometimes because we all have to work.”
