Billy Bob Thornton’s critique of the hosts of The View on Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ series, Landman, found at least one fan: former panelist Meghan McCain.
Although McCain was a co-host on the ABC talk show from 2017 to 2021, she didn’t hold back from taking a jab at her old co-hosts after a recent Landman episode poked fun at The View.
“I love Taylor Sheridan,” McCain expressed on X, alongside a Variety article titled, “‘Landman’ Slams ‘The View’: Taylor Sheridan Script Mocks Hosts That ‘Hate Millionaires and Trump and Men and You and Me.'”
The particular episode, “The Pirate Dinner,” features Thornton’s character, Tommy, making sarcastic remarks about The View during a phone conversation with his on-screen father, played by Sam Elliott as T.L.
In a playful exchange, Tommy suggests T.L. find ways to entertain himself, like “read a book” or “watch TV.”
“Watch one of them daytime talk shows, you know, like The View or something,” he suggests to T.L.
When T.L. asks him what The View is, Thornton explains it’s “bunch of pissed off millionaires bitching about how much they hate millionaires and Trump and men and you and me and everybody else they got a bee up their ass about.”
“It’s pretty funny,” Tommy states, to which T.L. responds that it “don’t sound funny.”
“Well, it ain’t joke funny. It’s like fart in church funny. You know what I mean?” Tommy says.
McCain has long been openly critical of The View since leaving the talk show, even going so far as to call it a “radical progressive insane asylum.”
“The only Republican that is acceptable at ABC News is an ex-one,” she once claimed. “You can’t be a current, I voted for Trump. I am pro-life. I’m whatever.’ It is unacceptable and does not exist on the entirety of ABC News. I was the only one, me and Elizabeth Hasselbeck, that’s it.”
McCain has since launched her own podcast where she covers politics from a conservative angle.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
