The Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) isn’t the only one to have had a falling out with Meghan Markle before she and Prince Harry tied the knot. Prince William is also said to have exchanged words with the duchess while sticking up for his wife.

Things reportedly got to the point where the Prince of Wales was in Meghan’s face, and that’s when she stood her ground and fired seven words back at him.

Meghan and Kate’s falling out before the wedding

When the infamous bridesmaid dress story initially broke, it was reported that Prince Harry’s wife made Prince William’s wife cry during Princess Charlotte’s dress fitting. However, during her primetime special with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan claimed that it was actually Kate who made her cry.

“The reverse happened,” the former Suits star told the former talk show host. “And I don’t say that to be disparaging to anyone … It was a really hard week of the wedding and she was upset about something but she owned it and she apologized and she bought me flowers, and a note apologizing.”

In his memoir Spare, Prince Harry discussed that rift and backed up Meghan’s story that Kate made her cry. He claimed that a few days before the wedding, Kate sent Meghan a text message telling her that Princess Charlotte’s dress was “too big, too long, too baggy.”

According to Harry, a tense exchange followed and Meghan told Kate she had a tailor at Kensington Palace who could do the alterations, so for Kate to bring Charlotte there. Meghan’s sister-in-law then allegedly let her know that “all the dresses need to be remade.” The duchess responded by repeating that Charlotte should go see the tailor about that, to which Kate is said to have replied, “Fine.”

Harry went on to say that after their exchange, he found Meghan on the floor sobbing, writing: “I was horrified to see [Meghan] so upset, but I didn’t think it [was] a catastrophe. Emotions were running high, of course … Kate hadn’t meant any harm, I told her.”

The prince also collaborated what his wife said about Kate giving her flowers and a card to apologize the next day.

Prince William and Meghan’s confrontation

Less than a month before the Sussexes’ wedding, Kate gave birth to her and William’s third child, Prince Louis. Following the bridesmaid dress fallout other tensions around the Sussexes’ wedding, Meghan reportedly said that Kate may have acted that way because she had “baby brain.”

As the Daily Mail noted, the Duke of Sussex discussed that in his memoir as well, saying, “In the book, Harry says that there was a discussion about the timing of the wedding rehearsal and the flower girl dresses, and Kate was very upset. Meghan said that Kate must have ”baby brain” because of her hormones. It caused a huge row because Meghan was told that she wasn’t close enough to her sister-in-law to discuss her hormones and it wasn’t the way people spoke to each other within the royal family.

“The book makes clear that Meghan felt the fallout wasn’t her fault, but it doesn’t exactly make her look very good either.”

Harry claimed that the comment then led Kate to reacting by telling Meghan, “We are not close enough for you to talk about my hormones”.

Prince William was reportedly upset by the “baby brain” remark as well and confronted his sister-in-law.

According to author Robert Jobson’s book Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography, which was serialized in the Mail, William accused Meghan of being “rude” for talking about Kate’s hormones. Their confrontation escalated, leading Meghan to hit back at William with this seven-word statement: “Take your finger out of my face.”
