Mel B is opening up about her evolving co-parenting relationship with Eddie Murphy, revealing that their bond has significantly improved in recent years. The former Spice Girl shared that their once-strained dynamic has now “flourished”.

In an exclusive interview with US Weekly, the 49-year-old sat down with the outlet to talk about how the dynamics of her co-parenting relationship with ex-Eddie Murphy has blossomed.

“I think being in the kind of [situation] that I was in, it was hard for me to step out and have that relationship [with Eddie] flourish,” the former Spice Girl explained, referencing her past challenges with PTSD and control issues. “I managed to do it bit by bit.”

The America’s Got Talent host continued saying, “Angel is coming over [to Murphy’s house]. They spend time together. They go on holiday together. He has [10] kids and he’s a proper father.”

In addition to Angel, Eddie Murphy is father to nine other children. The Beverly Hills Cop actor shares Eric, 35, with Paulette McNealy, Bria, 35, Myles, 32, Shayne, 30, Zola, 25, and Bella, 23, with Nicole Murphy, Christian, 34, with Tamara Hood and Izzy, 8, and Max, 6, with his wife, Paige Butcher.

Recently, Angel hit a milestone birthday, turning 18, on April 3, 2025. “Scary Spice” took to social media to wish her son a very special happy birthday with the sweetest message.

The caption on her post began, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ANGEL !!! I cannot believe youre 18 You are so special and so bright and so talented!!”

“I couldnt be prouder of watching you grow and become the person you are but youll forever be my babyyyy I hop you keep chasing yor dreams and be kind to everyone around you like you always have been my Angel
Love you always,” Brown concluded.

In her interview with Us Weekly, Brown highlighted the fact that her son is truly super talented, but not necessarily interested in following in his parents’ footsteps. Brown said that Angel prefers to stay “very much to himself” while following his passions and love for “art and Japanese culture”.

“He went to Japan last year with his girlfriend and just embraced the whole Japanese vibe,” Brown said. “[Angel] speaks fluent Japanese and he knows exactly what he wants to do and where he wants to go.”

In addition to Angel, Mel B is also mother to: daughters Phoenix, 26, and Madison, 13.
