At just 13 years old, Melanie Doggett is already making waves in the track & field world.

The young sprinter recently cemented her place in history by breaking a major record at the prestigious Millrose Games, showcasing her undeniable talent and speed. If you haven’t heard of her yet, now’s the time to get familiar—because this rising star is just getting started!

Earlier this month, Doggett shattered her own world record in the 60-meter dash, blazing through the finish line in an astonishing 7.17 seconds.

Her performance wasn’t just fast—it put her in the same league as high school, collegiate, and even professional athletes. In fact, only three collegiate women have clocked faster times this season, making this an unprecedented feat for an eighth grader.

.

Hailing from Atlanta, Doggett trains with Major Impact Track Club and represents Landmark Christian School. Her impressive technique and raw speed have already caught the attention of major figures in the sport.

On a recent episode of the Ready Set Go, podcast, former U.S. track stars Justin Gatlin and Rodney Green couldn’t stop raving about her mechanics and acceleration.

Gatlin noted, “Her [Melanie] movement, I mean when she had two steps down, everyone already had one and a half steps.”

WBut despite her jaw-dropping performances, Doggett remains humble and grounded. After a strong showing at the National Elite Final, she praised her fellow competitors, saying, “The girls were really sweet and they did good too,” she said in an interview after her 100-meter race at the National Elite Final.

That same humility was evident last year when she set her first world record at just 12 years old. “I didn’t do anything special,” Doggett said of her World age group record in an interview. “I just pushed.”

Doggett runs for Major Impact Track Club.
