‘American Idol’ Contestant Caleb Flynn Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murdering Wife
The long-unsolved disappearance of Michelle Parker has taken a significant turn.
Almost 15 years after the 33-year-old vanished in Orlando, Florida, authorities arrested her former fiancé, Dale Smith Jr., and charged him with second-degree murder. Smith has pleaded not guilty.

“Smith was the last known person to see or speak with Michelle on Nov. 17, 2011, after she brought their children to his home,” the Orlando police chief said at an Oct. 14 news conference. “During the past year, we expanded the investigative team assigned to the case and conducted a renewed, focused review of the evidence.”
The chief added that investigators revisited witness testimony and statements they said conflicted with one another, while also applying modern digital-forensics techniques to locate and examine further evidence.
On the same day Parker left the couple’s 3-year-old twins with Smith, an episode of People’s Court featuring the former couple aired. The two argued over an engagement ring during the episode. Later that evening, Parker failed to show up for her bartending job and was never heard from again.
