“Having grown up in Capeside, we share a connection that endures forever,” Michelle expressed to Us Weekly, as she announced the upcoming charity event. “We wanted to come together for our beloved friend James, to show him that we are always here for him, now and always. I believe the fans of Dawson’s Creek share these sentiments too.”
Although James couldn’t attend the fundraising event in September due to health reasons, he conveyed his gratitude through a message to those present. His wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, remarked that his spirit was undoubtedly present.
“This evening held a special meaning for our entire family,” she shared via her Instagram Stories after the gathering. “Most importantly, it was about feeling my husband’s presence filling the theater, surrounded by love for him.”
Kimberly, who shares six children with James—Olivia, 15, Joshua, 13, Annabel, 12, Emilia, 9, Gwendolyn, 7, and Jeremiah, 4—added, “We’ll be reflecting on this event for a while, but we are grateful for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers.”
