Miley Cyrus’ new year began with one resolution: to overcome an ovarian cyst rupture she dubbed ‘extremely excruciating.’

The three-time Grammy winner, 32, appeared Thursday on The Zane Lowe Show, where she opened up in detail about a harrowing health scare as 2024 turned into 2025.

The Franklin, Tennessee native had been working with her godmother Dolly Parton on her TV special Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party when her health disaster struck.

The End of the World singer said she ‘had a pretty traumatic experience on a show that I was doing with’ SNL creator Lorne Michaels. 

Miley said, ‘I had a medical emergency – I had an ovarian cyst rupture – we didn’t know exactly what was going on so we did it.’

Miley said that she stuck to the credo that the show must go on, despite severe physical symptoms that likely would have sidelined other performers.

‘It was pretty traumatic because it was extremely excruciating and I did the show anyway,’ Cyrus said on the music-focused chat show.

The Slide Away songstress emphasized that taking the stage with the ailment ‘was really really hard on’ her.

The Mayo Clinic defines ovarian cysts as ‘sacs, usually filled with fluid, in an ovary or on its surface. Females have two ovaries. One ovary is located on each side of the uterus.

The clinic said that ‘each ovary is about the size and shape of an almond,’ as ‘eggs develop and mature in the ovaries’ and ‘are released in monthly cycles during the childbearing years.’

Ovarian cysts are common, and most of the time will be harmless and not require any oversight from a medical professional, the clinic reported.

According to the Mayo Clinic, ‘There’s no way to prevent most ovarian cysts [but], regular pelvic exams help ensure that changes in your ovaries are diagnosed as early as possible.

The clinic advised to ‘be alert to changes in your monthly cycle’ and ‘make a note of unusual menstrual symptoms, especially ones that go on for more than a few cycles;’ and to ‘talk to your health care provider about changes that concern you..’

The establishment says that over the past six years, it has opened its doors to other stars such as , Dixie D’Amelio, Rosalía, Renee Rapp, Emma Chamberlain, dubbing itself ‘the go-to destination for ear piercing among Gen Z and millennial crowds.’ 

Miley is currently on the promotional trail for her forthcoming album Something Beautiful, which will be the ninth studio album of her career. 

The Columbia Records album is slated to come out May 30, with a musical movie also named Something Beautiful set to arrive in theaters June 6. 

Miley’s most recent album came with 2023’s Endless Summer Vacation, which spawned the megahit Flowers; and the singles River, Jaded and Used to Be Young.
