Monica made a stylish appearance alongside her son, Rodney Ramone Hill III, at New York Fashion Week on Wednesday.
The duo attended the Public School NYC fashion show, which signaled the brand’s much-anticipated return to the runway.
Though the evening was a significant milestone for the fashion label, it held equally personal significance for Monica.
“Tonight is special for me because I’m here with my firstborn. Rodney has a keen interest in fashion and many aspirations in the field, so this is an exciting start for us. Public School is the perfect blend of urban and chic,” she shared with ESSENCE during the event.
She added, “With the variety of textures and shapes on display tonight, it’s a truly memorable evening for us.”
Rodney III, born on May 21, 2005, is Monica’s oldest child with her former partner, Rodney “Rocko” Hill Jr. She also shares son Romelo Montez Hill (born 2008) and bonus son Ramone Hill with ex-partner Rodney “Rocko” Hill, as well as daughter Laiyah Shannon Brown (born 2013) with ex-husband Shannon Brown.
Monica has long spoken about how her firstborn changed her. In an 18th birthday message to Rodney on Instagram, she wrote, “You changed my life the second I knew I was pregnant with you! I wanted to be better for you, grow for you, change for you & accomplish things unimaginable for you!!! Today I celebrate you!!! There’s nothing in the world we wouldn’t do for you!! HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY …. Love MOM.”
The now 20-year-old graduated from high school in 2023. At the time, Monica wrote, “The next hallway you walk, will be one in a building you own. Your steps have been ordered. Graduation Day. Proud mom.”
