Mo’Nique enjoyed a special Memorial Day weekend with her husband Sidney Hicks and all three of her sons, including her eldest, Shalon Jackson.

In photos posted to Instagram, the Oscar-winning actress and comedian is seen smiling as she posed with her boys.

“Grateful.” she simply captioned the snaps.

The family reunion comes more than a year after Mo’Nique and Jackson had a public falling out that drew widespread attention. Their estrangement became a topic of conversation following her viral interview with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, where she spoke about their fractured relationship and expressed a desire to reconnect.

In response, Jackson accused his mother of presenting a “false narrative” during the interview.

“I would like to free her [from] having to continue telling that lie,” he said in a video response. “Faith without work is dead and neither one of us care to put forth any effort to reconcile with the other. We are ‘separate’ as she put it because she doesn’t care to be my mother any more than I care to be her son. Neither one of us have had the desire to reach out to the other in a very long time and I don’t think that either of us anticipates that feeling ever returning.”

Shortly after, Mo’Nique and Hicks addressed the situation in an Instagram Live, urging viewers to allow the situation to unfold in private. Hicks noted that the full story wasn’t being told and emphasized the complexity of parent-child relationships.

“Your mother, father, and I all have a loving relationship and communicate back and forth because of the love we have for you,” said Sidney. “Believe half of what you see and none of what it is that you hear. What we will convey is this, those who are parents and have raised their children up to being adults, you know that there comes a time and a place in which they determine their own decisions.”

Mo’Nique shares twin sons, Jonathan and David, with Hicks. Her eldest, Shalon, is from a previous relationship.
