While Monique Samuels managed to mend fences with Gizelle Bryant in the latest installment of The Real Housewives of Potomac, she remains firm in her decision not to reconcile with former co-star Candiace Dillard Bassett.
During the December 7 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Samuels made her return to the Bravo Clubhouse, marking her first appearance since joining The Real Housewives of Potomac for its tenth season.
When an audience member highlighted her personal growth, they inquired if Samuels could envision patching things up with Dillard Bassett. The two had a dramatic physical confrontation at a winery in Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Potomac.
“There was no relationship, and sometimes, moving on doesn’t mean that you have to reconcile,” Samuels explained. “You come to understand people for who they truly are, recognize your own position, establish boundaries, and it’s perfectly acceptable not to reignite something that isn’t meant to be rekindled.”
Samuels was a prominent figure on The Real Housewives of Potomac from Seasons 2 through 5. Her final season was marked by a notorious altercation with Dillard Bassett, which erupted at a winery and necessitated immediate intervention by the production team to separate them.
Both Dillard Bassett and Samuels later filed charges for second-degree assault, but both of their cases were ultimately dismissed by the court.
Samuels ended up leaving the show after Season 5, while Dillard Bassett remained a cast member until her departure after Season 8.
This year, it was announced that Samuels would return as a “friend of” in Season 10. When she stopped by DECIDER’s studio last week, she shared why now was the perfect time for a comeback.
“What better way to test my healing and my growth than to go back into the fire?” she said. “It was perfect timing because I felt like I have learned enough about myself that I just went, ‘what the heck, I might as well.’”
“It just felt like the right time,” she added. “I’m in a place in my life where I have overcome so many obstacles, so many fears, and I’m promoting my book and Mila Eve essential oils. I want people to see the transformation and to know that it’s possible. They are welcome to judge this new energy.”
Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
