Kenny Law, best known for his time starring on Discovery’s Moonshiners, has died. He was 68.

Kenny’s family announced his passing with a statement on Facebook.

“With sorrow, we announce that Everett ‘Kenny’ Law passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by loved ones,” they wrote. In another post, they added, “We love you and are already lost without you! Please look over us as you always have! SHINE On Brother!”

TMZ reports that Law died Jan. 14 in a Virginia hospital after battling several health conditions, including diabetes and a heart attack in 2024. Law’s cousin, Henry Law, told the outlet Law had recently been hospitalized for a blood infection prior to his death.

Kenny’s passing comes just days after the newest season of Moonshiners premiered on Discovery. The series, which has been on the air since 2011, follows a group of moonshine distillers living in Appalachia.

Kenny joined the cast as a regular in 2019 and starred in several seasons.

The third-generation moonshiner co-owned and operated Law’s Choice Distillery in Franklin County, Virginia, which produces legal moonshine, per The New York Post.

Kenny joined the family business as a young man working with his father. His obituary cites a 1977 incident in which Kenny rushed into a burning building to save his father after a propane explosion at the indoor moonshining operation. The moonshiner was “badly burnt in the process” but made a full recovery after spending months in the hospital.

Amanda Bryant, Kenny’s Moonshiner‘s co-star, paid tribute to the late distiller with a post on social media.

“Last Night we lost a True Moonshine Legend Kenny Law,” she wrote, adding, “It was an Honor to know you and call you my friend. Rest Easy Big Guy. Prayers for the whole Law family in this time. They are all very good friends of mine and my heart breaks for each of them.”

Kenny is survived by his daughter Kenzie and her husband Nathan Wright, as well as his grandsons Atlas and Fox Wright, and his brothers, David Law and Ronnie (Suzanne) Law.
