MTV’s Unexpected Cancellation Leaves ‘Jersey Shore’ Cast, Including Jenni ‘JWOWW’ Farley, in Shock

The Jersey Shore crew wasn’t ready to say their goodbyes just yet.

In March, MTV made the announcement that Season 9 of Jersey Shore Family Vacation would mark the conclusion of the beloved reality series. However, it appears the cast was left in the dark about this decision.

“Want to hear the juicy details? We had no clue,” revealed Jenni “JWOWW” Farley during a chat with Skeery Jones from Z100 New York.

‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation’ ending after nine seasons on MTV

Farley, a staple on MTV since Jersey Shore first hit the screens in 2009, mentioned that the cast recorded various interview segments for Season 9 without knowing which would make it into the final cut.

“During the interviews, we shot three different endings,” she elaborated. “One was as if the show was continuing, like a ‘see you later,’ another was open-ended, and the last was a farewell, which had me in tears,” she shared.

“We ended up, in interview, cutting three different ways, right?” she explained. “We cut it continuing the show, like, not saying a goodbye [but rather a] ‘see you later.’ [We did] an undetermined one, and then a goodbye, which made me sob like a maniac,” she said.

“But when we show the show, we had no intention of it being, like, ‘a goodbye season,’” she added.

Jenni ‘JWOWW’ Farley says this isn’t the end for ‘Jersey Shore’

Farley went on to say that she suspected that the merger of MTV’s parent company, Paramount, with Warner Bros. Discovery, was to blame for the show’s cancellation. But she believes that the Jersey Shore crew might be back on TV.

“We have faith. Like, between Paramount+ and Hulu, it’s not over,’ she said.

According to Farley, she and the rest of the cast are in active conversations with the show’s producers about next steps.

“We are all like, ‘What’s happening? What’s the update? What are the ratings? Where are we going? Who does Ronnie [Ortiz-Magro] have to hook up with to make this happen?’”

Immediately after MTV revealed that Jersey Shore Family Vacation was canceled, the show’s stars also spoke up to reassure fans that they were not stepping out of the spotlight.

“Legends don’t retire — they reroute,” Ortiz-Magro, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Deena Cortese, Angelina Pivarnick, and Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola wrote in a joint Instagram post. “The network changed. The legacy didn’t. Jersey Shore is forever. Just wait until you see what’s next.”

In the meantime, at least one Jersey Shore star has a new TV project in the works. Polizzi is currently filming a ghost-hunting series called Snooki: Paranormal Rookie for Crave in Canada.

Jersey Shore Family Vacation airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
