Music producer Mustard is turning to the courts in pursuit of sole custody of his children amidst a public dispute with his ex-wife, Chanel Thierry.

The four-time Grammy winner, whose real name is Dijon McFarlane, has filed legal documents requesting sole custody of the three children he shares with his ex-wife, Kiylan, 13, Kauner, 10, and Kody, 6. The former couple finalized their divorce in 2024 after four years of marriage.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Mustard’s request is rooted in a series of social media exchanges that he claims breach their existing custody agreement. The judge had previously mandated joint custody and instructed both parents to avoid any negative or derogatory remarks about each other in the presence of their children.

Mustard alleges that Chanel has disregarded these terms by targeting him in various posts on Threads starting in October.

In one post, she expressed her grievances, writing, “I have never in life met anyone more bitter than the person I am forced to deal with.”

She further aired her frustrations over co-parenting issues, stating, “How did a simple, ‘Can I have the football schedule?’ turn into you updating your relationship status??! Sir, I couldn’t care less if you’re engaged! Congrats! Can someone please send me the schedule now?! DAMN!”

She continued, “I’m really annoyed. I’ve asked everyone on that side for my baby’s stuff and they keep ignoring me. INSANEEEEEE.”

In a separate post, Chanel referred to Mustard by his legal name and accused him of deliberately trying to provoke her.

Mustard’s attorney, Samantha Spector, argues that the posts “negatively impact the best interests” of the children and “undermine the proper functioning of the co-parenting process.”

Along with seeking sole custody, Mustard is requesting $30,000 in sanctions, citing violations of the court’s previous orders. As part of the finalized divorce settlement, Chanel was awarded $315,000 in spousal support, along with $24,000 per month in child support.

The custody matter remains ongoing.
