Naomi Watts was all smiles on Monday as she walked the red carpet at her latest movie premiere, but the same couldn’t be said for her teen child Kai Schreiber.

The Australian actress, 56, and her 16-year-old attended The Cinema Society screening of The Friend in New York.

But while the King Kong star appeared overjoyed to be there, Kai seemed glum as they posed for photos, despite a recent catwalk debut at Paris Fashion Week.

The lookalike pair opted for a black and white theme to their looks, with a pop of pink.

Naomi slipped into a draped maxi dress from Jacquemus with black feathered detailing on her pleated skirts.

She paired the high-neck look with a basic white pump as she kept her blonde bob sleek and straight.

Meanwhile, Kai went with a darker black and pink polka dotted jacket with ruffled skirts and a pink top.

The teen accessorised with lace stockings and a pair of black leather boots, and clutched a black and white Valentino handbag worth a staggering $4,020. 

Both mother and child donned light smoky eyes and pink lipstick for the occasion.

Their outing comes just a few weeks after Kai made their fashion runway debut at Paris Fashion Week.

Naomi was every inch the proud mother as the budding model stepped out on the catwalk for Valentino, with the momentous moment being shared to Instagram. 

Kai donned a knit snakeskin mini dress with a feathered collar for their career launch with the designer fashion house.

Their accessories included a beige headband which covered most of their blonde tresses, along with Havana sunglasses which featured blue lenses.

White lace stockings and matching sandals with a rose strap completed the ensemble.

Kai uploaded a gallery of photos of the catwalk debut, including pictures from behind-the-scenes which showed them sitting in the hair and makeup chair.

‘Omggg my heart is so full,’ Kai captioned the reel of images. 

Naomi also shared content of Kai walking for Valentino, including video which saw her excitedly re-watching the show online.

‘Oh my god,’ the Hollywood star exclaimed several times as she laid in bed watching her child model for the huge brand.

Naomi shares Kai and her son Sasha, 17, with her ex, American actor Liev Schreiber, who she was in a relationship with for 11 years before they amicably split in 2016.

Liev, 57, has since married Taylor Neisen while Naomi went on to find love again with Billy Crudup.

Naomi and American actor Billy, 56, tied the knot in a modest wedding ceremony at a New York courthouse in June 2023.

They then exchanged vows for a second time a year later in a larger ceremony with their family and friends in Mexico.
