The incident was disclosed by Abuzaidu Abubakar Yari in a Facebook post on Monday, March 2, 2026. According to him, the boy allegedly confessed during interrogation that he was sent alongside two others to spy on residents in the Makera Gandu area of Birnin Kebbi.

The suspect reportedly revealed that he had been trained in sign language to communicate with his accomplices without raising suspicion. Although he currently resides in Kebbi State, he is said to be originally from Niger State.

The revelation has raised concerns about the tactics used by criminal networks to monitor communities before carrying out kidnappings. Yari urged residents to remain vigilant, advising them to report any suspicious activity to security authorities.
