Kate Hudson was setting her family up for success.

The Running Point star—who shares Ryder, 21, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, Bingham, 13, with Matt Bellamy, and Rani Rose, 6, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa—recently detailed her commitment to making her blended family work, admitting she had to make sacrifices when it came to her work and life as a mother while creating “one unit” as she raised her children. 

“I have three kids and I have three different dads, and all of them tour, and I made a very conscious decision to do things that didn’t take me away from my kids for too long, on top of trying to diversify,”  Kate, 46, said at the Newport Beach TV Fest via People, June 5. “I like to play the long game and just do different things, so for me it was like I wasn’t getting the roles that I wanted to be playing.”
