Kris Boyd, a cornerback for the New York Jets, is currently under medical care following a violent incident during a night out.
As reported by NBC News, Boyd was hospitalized after suffering a gunshot wound in Manhattan in the early hours of November 16.
Police officers arrived at the Sei Less restaurant in Midtown shortly after 2 a.m. and discovered the 29-year-old athlete with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to the New York Police Department. Boyd was then transported to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The shooting took place after Boyd was involved in an altercation, according to a law enforcement source who informed NBC News. The bullet was reported to have lodged in his lung.
Authorities have yet to make any arrests related to the incident, as per their statement to the news outlet.
Meanwhile, the Jets “are aware of the situation” involving Boyd, a spokesperson for the team said in a statement to NBC News, adding that the organization “will have no further comment at this time.”
